Painfully, there is no other way to say this other than Donald J. Trump, the 45th president of the United States, appeared to attempt a coup d’etat with his stunt yesterday, January 6th, to have his supporters storm the United States Capitol shutting down or delaying the orderly conduct of both the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives.

A coup d’etat, just to be clear, is the removal of an existing government from power, generally through violent means that are considered an illegal, unconstitutional seizure of power by a political faction, the military, or a dictator.  Trump’s army was a political faction.

Trump’s army came to Washington at his invitation and urged him to “stop the steal,” even though there has been no evidence of significant election fraud in any state in the nation. President Trump lost the Electoral College to Joe Biden 304-227 and was bested by more than seven million popular votes.
