That Old Florida Vibe

Past, Present, Future Sunshine …

In the sequel to my Hoya political novel series about a fictional American president who is a political Independent and former Florida governor, I introduced a concept about governing in and from the Sunshine State that I call, That Old Florida Vibe.

Florida is a state that once pioneered good government practices that were and even are still known as government in the Sunshine. These principles of good government were introduced and pioneered by my old boss, the late Governor and former senior United States Senator, Lawton Chiles in response to a host of political scandals that threatened American democracy at the time.

We are there again today, it appears.

That Old Florida Vibe is alive and well in our state even though former President Donald Trump and his misguided family are intending to make Florida the MAGA (Make America Great Again) capital of his comeback campaign. This is not the Florida I know, we know, and love.

These (apologies to the Empire State) carpetbaggers do not appreciate nor understand what the Sunshine State represents to the government when it does good for people regardless of their financial status, educational background, or political persuasion.

Discrimination against any one person or group is not permitted here. Corruption is not tolerated. Fiscal irresponsibility is shunned. Quality of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are treasured whether you are old Florida, new Florida, transitional Florida, transcendent Florida, or whatever.

As the 2022 and 2024 election cycles dawn, we at Thomas will be advocating in Florida at least what we call, The Old Florida Vibe. Quality of living. A way of remembering and celebrating. Quality of working. A quality of ethical citizenship that will be second to none.

Keep an eye on here. We will be telling you more as we advocate for better policies and initiatives from Governor Ron DeSantis, Senator Marco Rubio, Senator Rick Scott, Congressman Dan Webster, Congressman Bill Posey, and others who do not currently have the interests of our people or nation first and foremost in their daily political lives here in the great state of Florida.
