America’s Fate?
You hear it all of the time. “The end of America as we know it is here.” “This country is not what it used to be.” “America will not be the superpower it once was.” “The age of America is over.” “We are too deep in debt to ever get out.”
Has the next Augustus come? Is America a retiring superpower, a bit player on the world stage now? And if the next Augustus is here, who is that or what is it? How long will it take to know that he or she is truly here?
