our ideal governor

according to thomas …
As an independent political mediazine, we of course favor a certain type of governor when it comes to who we prefer for a state’s chief executive.
So what does that preferred candidate look like to Thomas?
Broadly, our ideal governor:
Is pro-United States Constitution and embraces American democracy.
Practices transparent and empathetic leadership.
Ethically prioritizes, more often than not, specific issues over party platforms for the benefit of their state’s residents.
Holds more moderate or centrist views, preferring balanced policies rather than those that lean strongly liberal or conservative.
Will work across the political aisle by considering ideas from multiple parties and are not always bound by party loyalty or platform.
Recognizes that partisan politics and blind party allegiance contribute to gridlock, polarization, and government inefficiency by giving in to special interests or placing party loyalty above the public good.
Is supportive of political reforms that help reduce partisan dysfunction.
And has measured responses to national political issues and a commitment to addressing local concerns that better resonate with their voters.
Specifically, our ideal governor:
Focuses on fiscal responsibility, economic development, job creation, and bipartisan collaboration.
Advocates for investments in infrastructure, education, and healthcare to improve the quality of life for their residents.
Will diversify the state's economy beyond its traditional industries and will competently manage crises as they arise such as natural disasters.
